To the great sea and beyond with OmniTRACK
23 July 2008
OmniTRACK, world leader in providing satellite asset monitoring
and tracking solutions, was on board Kanaloa when it set sails.
Kanaloa is one of the new generation lightweight catamarans built
using carbon fibre to save weight. It was built in two and half
years in South Africa.

After years of work and planning, Kanaloa left South Africa and
was on her maiden voyage to the Mediterranean for the European
summer. The crew on board was a league of nations, consisting of
two Frenchmen, a British, a Saint (Helena), an American and a
Kiwi.
The OmniTRACK system allowed friends and family to monitor the
voyage from start to finish without getting their feet wet.
OmniTRACK is an advanced web-based system which allows users to
view in near real time the position of assets anywhere in the world
24 hours a day, 7 days a week. On Kanaloa adventures, the team
stopped at St Helena, Ascension Island, Cape Verde Islands, The
Canarys, Madeira Island and Menorca before ending at St Tropez. The
total distance sailed was 7000nm.
Asset parameters such as start and stop times, ignition on and
off, speed and engine RPM can also be monitored with the OmniTRACK
system. Two way communication and personal alarms can be added to
provide peace of mind for all parties involved in the case of an
emergency or breakdown.
